A Georg Jensen small, flaired cup with folded rim and engraved leaf design. The sides are hand hammered to catch the light. The pattern number, Georg Jensen marks and the date 1922 are marked on the bottom.
There is light wear to the base and a few minor bumps to the bottom. Otherwise it is in very good condition.
Georg Jensen (1866-1935) is Denmark’s best known silversmith. He opened his small silver atelier in Copenhagen in 1904. By 1935 the year of his death, he had received world acclaim and was hailed in the New York Herald Tribune as “The Greatest Silversmith of the Last 300 Years.” Apprenticed as a goldsmith and trained as a sculptor, he partnered some of the greatest artists to produce a unique style, characterized by high quality craftsmanship and sculptural design.
