Three Chinese export plates in the pierced rock and bamboo pattern, dating from the first quarter of the 1700s. They are finely potted, with a bluish glaze and brown-dressed rims. They are unmarked. One of them still has an old label but the ink has faded and it is now illegible.
There are one or two tiny frits on two of the plates. Otherwise they are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. They have the expected firing imperfections with some glaze dimpling and kiln grit. The glaze is also slightly rubbed in one or two places.
The Kangxi Emperor’s reign (1662–1722) saw a revival of China’s porcelain industry, following the disruption of civil war during the late Ming period. The export of blue and white porcelain flourished as the western demand for Chinese porcelain dramatically increased.
