Victorian papier mâché pocket snuff box inlaid with pewter to lid.
The box opens and closes smoothly with a hinged lid and is in very good condition.
Snuff originated in the Americas and was in common use in Europe by the 17th century. It is a smokeless tobacco made from ground tobacco leaves which is inhaled or "snuffed" through the nose.
