Large hardback edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. Printed by J Coker & Co, 1933. Colour frontispiece and 7 further colour plates by Bessie Pease, and decorative borders by G P Micklewright.
During the early 1900s, Bessie Pease Gutmann (1876 1960) was considered one of the better-known magazine and book illustrators in the US.
Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (27 January 1832 – 14 January 1898), is better known by his pen name Lewis Carroll. His best know works are Alice‘s Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass. His best known poems are Jabberwocky and The Hunting of the Snark. He was also a mathematician, photographer, and Anglican deacon.
