Souvenir book of the Queens Brigade, Royal Scots in 1889 by Captain Moir Bryce 9 RVB (RS). Printed by Caldell Brothers Ltd, Edinbugh and dedicated to Brigadier General J H A MacDonald CB. Includes a short history of the Royal Scots Regiment (Pontious Pilots Bodyguard) but mostly it is caricatures of the officers and small vignettes of military life.
A charming record of the characters in Scotlands oldest infantry regiment towards the end of the 19th Century. A great present for anybody with a connection to the Royal Scots (especially if they can find somebody with their family name drawn in the book). Spine is very damaged but the pages are in good clear condition.
The Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment), once known as the Royal Regiment of Foot, was the oldest and most senior infantry regiment of the line of the British Army, having been raised in 1633 during the reign of Charles I of Scotland. The regiment existed continuously until 2006, when it amalgamated with the King‘s Own Scottish Borderers to become the Royal Scots Borderers.
Condition Note: Pages are in good condition but the spine binding is in very poor condition.
