This is a nice little Victorian cast iron door stop from the sought after Coalbrookdale foundry. Makers name stamped to back.
The top 4 inches or so has been been broken off and lost but it is a reasonably clean break so it is not immediately obvious that a bit is missing. Apart from that, it is in good condition, looks great and, rather importantly, still works as a door stop.
In the 19th century, Coalbrookdale was noted for its decorative ironwork. For example, they produced the gates of London‘s Hyde Park, the Coalbrookdale verandah at St John‘s in Monmouth and much further away - the Peacock Fountain in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Condition Note: There is a bit missing from the top but at least it is a clean break so it is not obvious.
