A pair of 19th century Indian Silver (un-hallmarked) pepperettes. Both have repoussé/chased foliate designs covering their whole surface and sit on three ball feet. Between the feet, larger shell/leaf patterns rise up from the underside towards the more intricate designs on the sides and top.
Each cellar has about 18 small holes on the top for letting the pepper out. The cellars are refilled by slightly rotating and then lifting off the top. Both cellars are in good functional condition for their age but repeated polishing has taken some of the crispness away from the design.
Two very striking pepper cellars that would start a conversation at any dinner party.
