Realistic and beautifully observed slip-cast figurative sculpture of a mother and child reading by Scottish artist, painter, sculptor and stage-set designer, Walter Awlson.
Born in Galashiels, Walter studied Furniture Design and Sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art. Graduating in the early seventies, he went on to a successful career in secondary and further education before focusing full time on art. He set up workshop in Alloa in 1985, producing wheel-thrown functional stoneware, Raku fired ware and figurative sculpture.
