A Chinese cup decorated in underglaze blue with an hua decoration, where white slip is delicate slip-trailed on the porcelain body. It was then decorated, or ‘clobbered’, with overglaze enamels in the Netherlands in Imari style. Chinese Imari emerged towards the end of Emperor Kangxi‘s reign (1662-1722) in response to the immense popularity of Japanese Imari and remained in vogue until the mid-18th century. The Dutch copied the red and gold palette. The flower basket, in Dutch de bloemenmand, was by far the most popular motif.
A firing imperfection to the interior of the bowl. Otherwise, in good condition with no chips or cracks.
