An early version of the Carlton Ware marmalade pot with a Crown mark, dating it to the first half of the 1920s. A fun and useful item with a dimpled effect to give appearance of peel and a moulded orange blossom handle.
This is in good condition with a fleabite to the inner rim of the pot and a couple of age spots./div>
The company was established in 1890 by James Frederick Wiltshaw, William Herbert Robinson and James Alcock Robinson trading under the name of Wiltshaw and Robinson. The trademark "Carlton Ware" was introduced in 1894, and the company‘s factory was renamed the Carlton Works. The company is known for its hand-painted pottery in Art Deco styles and novelty items.
