A blue glass decanter by Jacob E Bang with its original stopper and label. The label can be dated to pre 1965. Kastrup glassworks, Denmark (1873-1965) merged with Holmgaard in 1965 to become Kastrup og Holmegaards Glasvaerker A/S. The name Kluk Kluk comes from the sound the liquid makes when poured.
Jacob E. Bang (1899-1965) was Holmegaard’s first designer and was first employed at the glass factory in the 1920s. He was really an architect, but after working at the glass factory Bang shifted his attentions completely to industrial design. He is known as Denmark’s first industrial designer and the creator of functionalism in Danish glass. During his time at the glass factory, he designed a number of products that have now become collectors’ items.
The decanter is in excellent condition. The stopper has a shaved edge down one side of the insert which does not effect its tight fit.
