A charming Victorian playing cards box with penned and coloured drawings on the top and sides. The top panel shows a circle of stylised husks with the card suits in each corner. The front and back show a figure of eight of husks and flowers, while the sides depict red bows. Inside, the box has four boxwood compartments for playing cards.
An attractive and unusual box. It is in very good condition with good hinges and fine patination. Inside the box are a pack of De La Rue Financial Times Christmas Edition playing cards from circa 1950/60s (no Jokers).
