Scottish bright cut silver sugar tongs with hallmarks for Alex Henderson of Edinburgh (1795 - 1812). There is no date mark, but the shape of the Kings head duty mark combined with the years that Alex Henderson was active indicates they are between 1797 and 1812. Initials inscribed to end.
Charming Scottish silver tongs. We may not use sugar tongs any more but their simple and elegant design with the gentle wear acquired through 200 years still draws the eye to them.
