Eight cups and seven saucers decorated in the blue and red of Pattern No. 1984, known as "The Doll‘s House" pattern. (See David Holgate ‘New Hall’, Page 71 Plate 32 and Page 206 Plate 324.) The pieces are not marked, but are made of the hybrid hard paste characteristic of New Hall, and have oval ring handles typical of the period. Spode also produced the Doll’s House pattern but there the colouring of the house is reversed with a blue roof on the left hand side instead of red.
The cups are in very good condition with no chips or loss of enamel. Two have small hairline cracks, which are not immediately obvious. Slight rubbing around the rims and some kiln fritting. There are also no chips on the saucers. However, three have suffered more wear with minor loss of enamel and slight hairline cracks on the base.
New Hall manufactured porcelain in Shelton, Staffordshire between 1781 and 1835. Most patterns were either floral or chinoiserie.
