Boxed set of six silver handled desert knives by Thomas Bradbury & Sons (Sheffield 1939). The handles are hallmarked silver and the blades are stainless steel. In original box as retailed by Ratting & Co of Dundee.
This set of knives are in excellent condition with very little sign of wear. The silver handles are a simple and unfussy design which would fit well into a modern house.
The business Thomas Bradbury & Son traces its origin to Fenton, Creswick & Co, which was among the first to enter a mark at the Sheffield Assay Office in 1773. In 1831 the firm became Thomas Bradbury & Son with a London showroom at 12 Gough Square, Fleet Street and later 15 Charterhouse Street. The company closed in 1943.
