A Chinese export cup and saucer in Famille Rose palette featuring pink, violet and iron red flowers with a red and black diaper pattern border.
Small hairline crack to both with some fitting around the rim of the saucer. Both still have a good ring. Loss of enamel on one flower. Otherwise, the enamels are good. The cup has a few specks of kiln grit.
In the mid-18th century a new type of flowers became common on Chinese export porcelain. Known as ‘deutsche Blumen’, these are assumed to have been copied from German Meissen porcelain decorations.
